Hello! My name is Clay Iwanaga-Friedman, a soon to be graduate from UC Santa Barbara, with a B.A. in Philosophy and a Minor in Professional Writing. I am returning to the Bay Area to find steady employment in a career where I can collaborate with like-minded, educated individuals at a tech company, Intellectual Property law firm or a startup company. I am incredibly interested in the how people interact with technology, and I plan to attend law school after gaining two to three more years of work experience.
I have completed UCSB’s Technology Management Program certification, where I learned business strategy, starting a startup company, selling high tech products, IP law, and human resources management. UCSB is fortunate to have a thriving entrepreneurship program, with an emphasis on technology startups, and I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to apply my critical thinking, writing and leadership skills in such a practical environment.
From classroom to office, I utilized knowledge from my TMP courses to thrive at FindTheBest, Santa Barbara’s third largest startup company. During my summer internship, I worked with online content publishers, such as ESPN, to bring FTB’s embeddable data visualizations to their readers. I interacted with clients through emails and calls, analyzing and optimizing our product to best fit their consumer needs. I left FindTheBest after four months to return to school, with more business knowledge than I could have hoped. Landing a job with another great startup in the Bay Area would be an ideal way to spend the next few years.
